Retiree Appreciation Days are a great source of the latest information for retirees and their family members. RADs vary from installation to installation, but most provide an opportunity to renew acquaintances, listen to guest speakers, renew identification cards, get medical checkups, and various other services.
May 2013
Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont., is the site of a three-day Retiree Appreciation Weekend beginning at 7:30 a.m. May 17. The special weekend is in conjunction with commissary case lot sale. Planned activities include a retreat Ceremony followed by a social hour; medical screenings; informational briefings; a formal dinner; and a formal brunch. Air Force retirees are invited to attend at Retiree Appreciation Day hosted by the U.S. Army Garrison at the Presidio of Monterey, Calif., in conjunction with the Fort Ord Area Retiree Council. Events take place at the Gen. Stilwell Community Center, Ord Military Community, on June 8. The day is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m., and will end with a free lunch served by active-duty service members from the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center. A Retiree Appreciation Day is set for June 14 at Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash., 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the U.S. Air Reserve Drill Hall. Planned activities include blood pressure checks and glaucoma testing; updates about TRICARE, Veterans Affairs and Washington veterans cemeteries; plus an update from the base commander.
