SAN ANTONIO (AFRNS) --
During March, retirees can gather at three locations for a day full of special activities.
Retirees from all branches of service -- and military members contemplating retirement -- can attend the Retiree Expo and Appreciation Day on March 3 in the new Gordon Conference Center at Los Angeles Air Force Base, Calif. The base is located in El Segundo between Aviation Boulevard and Douglas Street, and activities take place 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The day's guest speakers include representatives from the Defense Finance and Accounting Service, the Los Angeles County Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, Veterans' Administration, California Department of Veterans' Affairs, Social Security Administration, Tricare and the Military Officers Association.
More than 20 exhibitors are planned, and both the base exchange and commissary are planning sidewalk sales. The club opens at 10 a.m. for lunch, and the pharmacy will be open 10 a.m. to noon for prescription pick-ups only. The immunizations and pass/registration sections will also be open 10 a.m. to noon.
Military identification cards are required for admittance to the base. For more information contact David Porter at (310) 653-5025.
On March 24, Air Force retirees, family members and friends are invited to attend Fort Stewart Retiree Appreciation Day activities at the Rosen Plaza Hotel, 9700 International Drive, in Orlando, Fla.
A morning speaker's program starts at 9:15 a.m., and a "county fair" begins immediately following the morning program. Representatives will be available to provide assistance, answer questions and issue identification cards.
For more information contact the Army Retirement Services office at (912) 767-5013.
Dover AFB, Del., is the site of a Retiree Appreciation Day on March 31 at the base's combined club, The Landings, located at the end of Chevron Avenue.
Information booths open at 8 a.m. and representatives of base facilities and service organizations can answer individual questions, and medical workers will conduct a health fair.
Briefings on subjects of interest to the entire retiree community will begin at 9:30.
A representative from DFAS will answer retiree pay and annuity questions, and retired Capt. W.G. Schneeweis, U.S. Coast Guard, will update people on benefits changes and current legislation. The benefits briefing will be followed by briefings about the medical group, space-available travel, and other areas of interest to retirees.
The base's customer service center in Bldg. 520 will be open for updating identification cards and Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System information.
After the morning program, people can visit the Air Mobility Command Museum on the south side of the base, in historic Hangar 1301. A new addition to the museum ramp this year is the C-124 Globemaster II.
Lunch will be available in The Landings beginning at noon until 2 p.m.
