Air Force working toward innovative groundwater cleanup solution

Professors Selma Mededovic Thagard and Thomas Holsen, the Clarkson University team responsible developing the enhanced contact electrical discharge plasma reactor - a new method for degrading poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances including PFOS and PFOA - pose for a photo. The Air Force Civil Engineer Center’s Broad Agency Announcement program has awarded more than $7 million in contracts since 2011 for innovative technologies to better understand and remediate PFOS/PFOA.
